ADMission Information
Admission to Northern Dutchess Christian School is not on a first-come, first-served basis. Each year, after all current students have had an opportunity to re-enroll; priority to remaining openings first will be to members and regular attendees of the Northern Dutchess BibleChurch, then siblings of current students. After that, applications from the general public will be considered.
Parents should note that not all applications to Northern Dutchess are accepted. Applications should be completed thoroughly and in a timely manner to ensure the best possible consideration.
Criteria
New Applicants to Northern Dutchess will be accepted for enrollment based on the following criteria:
- He/she has been, and most likely will continue to be at NDCS, academically successful and motivated.
- He/she possesses a positive & cooperative attitude, especially for Christian education at NDCS.
- He/she is in agreement with school policies.
- His/her family is enthusiastically supportive of an education at NDCS, and will partner cooperatively with the school.
All accepted students are placed automatically on an initial 10-week probation, during which their academic, behaviorand social progress will be evaluated.
Procedure
The admissions process for new applications is as follows:
- A completed Application is submitted with an Application Fee and supporting documentation, including transcripts, recommendations, and other records.
- If warranted, an interview will be scheduled by the Admissions Committee. Families are given a tour of the facilities.
- For some grades and situations, exams are employed to determine the ability to profit from an education at Northern Dutchess. All prospective Kindergarte students must be screened for basic skills and development.
- The Financial Aid Committee coordinates the tuition assistance process. This process runs concurrently with, but independently of the application for admission, and should be done at the earliest possible date. (See Financial Aid)
- The Admissions Committee will respond to an application after reviewing all materials, and after any requests for additional information have been satisfied. Upon the successful approval of an application, the accepted candidate will be contacted with enrollment information.
The newly accepted student/family will be sent an Enrollment Packet. They must complete the Enrollment Contract (and related papers), and pay a small fee to hold a place in the appropriate class.
Re-Enrollment
Around late January current families will be asked to indicate their intent to re-enroll in the fall. Families who indicate such intent will be sent an Enrollment Packet with all the forms necessary to retain their place in the fall class. Families who desire tuition assistance must re-apply each spring for the upcoming year. If the school has any concern that a current student’s academic, social or behavioral progress might prohibit re-enrollment, the school will schedule a meeting with the appropriate parents in the spring to discuss the matter and possible remedies.
