About NDCS

The mission of Northern Dutchess Christian School is to build a firm foundation for life where the strengths of the individual can be expressed and nurtured by providing a Christ-oriented, Biblically-directed education which instills discernment, vision and practice in character, academics and service. Since all knowledge and creation traces its sources to the omnipotent God, any philosophy which removes the ultimate source of knowledge is faulty and untenable.

Northern Dutchess Christian School opened in 1976 as a 3 & 4 year old nursery school. In September 1981, it opened the elementary school with grades K-3 and an enrollment of 17 children. For the next five years enrollment grew and one grade was added each year. The first 8th grade class (10 students) graduated in June 1987.

In April 1995 NDCS moved to its current location in Red Hook. September 1998 saw expansion again, this time in the initiation of a new high school program.

Since 1994, NDCS has been a ministry of the Northern Dutchess Bible Church. The congregation of NDBC provides the facilities, and many of its children attend the Christian school. In coming years, the Northern Dutchess Christian School seeks to continually raise its level of academic excellence, strengthen and maintain its extracurricular activities, train ever wiser and more committed Christian disciples, provide Biblically fair compensation and growth opportunities for appropriately trained and certified personnel, and develop its facilities and grounds as needed to support these objectives.

Moral training is arguably the central task of education- more central even than the three R's. Nothing more powerfully shapes a child's life than his values, his beliefs, his sense of right and wrong.
